Perhaps the most anticipated event is Family Gras, a different take on Fat Tuesday that’s geared towards the area’s younger residents.

The fun doesn’t have to end in February—Metairie hosts plenty of other festivals throughout the year. Reveillon on the Ridge celebrates a 300-year-old tradition of holiday feasts, gatherings, and merriment all throughout December. Locals also flock to the Italian Heritage Festival, which is celebrated each spring.
